Job Title

Monica Ellis is the CEO of the Global Environment & Technology Foundation, a leader in the development of public-private partnerships. Monica also serves as CEO of Global Water Challenge (GWC), a sector leader in mobilizing clean water access, advancing water security and community empowerment in high need regions around the world.

A leader in innovation and sustainable technology, Monica has worked throughout the world on a range of natural resource and economic development issues, focusing particularly on clean water, climate, technology, health, and economic empowerment issues. She specializes in developing high-impact partnerships with leading companies, government agencies, civil society, and philanthropists that result in resilient communities.

Monica has helped numerous Fortune 100 companies address water risk through the development of collective action partnerships. Her expertise has supported a number of corporate clients, including The Coca-Cola Company, Starbucks, Gap, Ford Motor Company, Cargill, among others, formulate leading approaches to address water risk through high impact programs. Under Monica’s leadership, GWC and GETF have mobilized over $600 million in investment for clean water access and community development efforts that today benefit millions of people in Africa, the Americas, and India.

Monica currently serves or has advised several boards, including GETF, Keurig Green Mountain, DigDeep, Water For People, US Water Partnership, KETOS, the University of Michigan’s Graham Sustainability Institute, Ohio State University’s Global Water Institute and several private companies. She is also a Trustee for the Kohler Clean Water Trust.

Monica is a graduate of the University of Missouri and a proud recipient of American University’s William K. Reilly Award for Environmental Leadership.
