Jim MacIntyre is a serial technology entrepreneur and investor who has founded, led, and advised numerous private and publicly held companies. He is the Chairman ofProduct Lab, an accelerator for promising technology-based companies, products, and services that provides its portfolio companies with integrated business and technology support in the start-up and rapid-growth stages.
Throughout his career, he has served as a successful architect and operator of several transformational technology companies. Examples include his leadership as the Chief of E-commerce Technology for GSI Commerce, Inc. during a critical value-building period prior to GSI’s acquisition by eBay (EBAY) in June 2011.
Jim is also the co-founder of Visual Sciences, LLC a real-time analytics and data visualization software business backed by private investors and In-Q-Tel, the venture capital firm affiliated with the U.S. intelligence community. Jim led Visual Sciences as Chairman and CEO until 2006, when the company was taken public by WebSideStory, Inc. (WSSI) via acquisition. Jim also served as CEO and President of WSSI where he continued to build the value of the merged business – rebranded under the Visual Sciences, Inc. (VSCN) name – until its successful acquisition by Omniture, Inc. (OMTR) in 2008. Today, the visionary products that Jim and his team brought to market at Visual Sciences are still commercially supported by a division of Adobe (ADBE) and used by premiere online businesses.
A recognized leader in the tech world, Jim is presently on the board of directors of Tealium, Inc., Stardog, Inc., Inspire, Inc., Agerpoint, Inc., Apercu, Inc., Worldeye, Inc., DidThat, Inc., Pundit Wine, Inc., MarketGrader, Inc., Ignitio, Inc., and Product Lab, LLC. Between 1986 and 2001, Jim worked in senior roles for a variety of software, telecommunications, and financial service companies, including various Cisneros-held companies, Comprehensive Data Systems, Inc., OneSoft Corporation, Computer and Communications Services, Inc., Together Networks, Inc., and NextPoint Partners, a venture capital fund. Jim was awarded a degree with honors in philosophy and economics from the University of Vermont. He lives in the Washington D.C. and New York metro areas.
